If a pizza is a sandwich so is a quesadilla… Though honestly a quesadilla is closer to actually grilling cheese than a grilled cheese is but a grilled cheese is the specific type of sandwich in which the name invokes. If I ordered a grilled cheese and got a quesadilla I probably wouldn’t be mad but it’d be confusing.

If a stop at a place and it’s got grilled cheese on the menu, and i order them, and when they arrive theyre quesadillas, I’m surprised for sure, but am I complaining? No way.
It is not technically a sandwich so I don’t think so. Í believe it to be a separate class. A sandwich is 2 or more pieces of bread put together with something in between them. A quesadilla is 1 unit making up both sides. That said I am all for finding any other foods that would be that category! Because it is extremely delicious 😋🤤!
